Qld: Govt suspends leave for disturbed offenders
BRISBANE, Jan 21 AAP - The Queensland government today suspended all leave for mentallyill serious offenders from the state's mental health facilities.
The move came following the escape on Friday of a man judged insane after beheadinghis clergyman father in Cairns in 1997.
Mark James Briscoe, 25, disappeared from the Wolston Park Psychiatric Hospital whileon supervised ground leave.
The escape had led the state opposition and the Queensland Police Union to call forHealth Minister Wendy Edmond to resign.
